Meet the Ukrainian Cooperative ReSew and learn about the practices of support and solidarity with queer and feminist movements during war.
ReSew - created in Kyiv - is a queer-feminist sewing cooperative focusing on intersectional queer feminism, environmental activism and economic justice. ReSew conducts workshops for LGBTQI+ and feminist communities and makes clothes accessible for trans* and non-binary people and does repairs and upcycling of clothes and textiles.
At the beginning of war, the cooperative was transformed into a shelter and responded to the urgent needs of peoples’ requests for food, water and relocation, sewing some textile items for the territory defense and anti-authoritarian warriors. Later, the founders of ReSew moved abroad, and our guests, Masha (they/them) and Ton (they/them), are now located in Helsinki.
The conversation will be moderated by Moussa Mchangama.
